- Falls. Is there a falls assessment at admission, with night lights, grab bars and non-slip floors?
- Medicines. Will the doctor review the full list and stop tablets that are no longer needed? Many very old people take more medicines than they need.
- Continence. How are toileting schedules planned, and how quickly are wet pads changed?
- Nutrition and fluids. Is weight checked monthly, and is water offered through the day?

Hospitals and access from Kiwale
For a major emergency, the ambulance will head for Thergaon (Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital) or Pimpri (DY Patil Hospital), each usually half an hour or less away when roads are clear. Confirm which one the home prefers and what a night-time transfer looks like.
Kiwale is well placed for relatives. Relatives driving from Mumbai can come off the expressway or the old highway without entering Pune, local trains stop at Dehu Road and Akurdi a few minutes away, and the Ravet road joins the BRTS corridor to Aundh.
