Senior living homes in Gurugram: what families should know
Gurugram has more purpose-built elder care than almost any other city in north India. Many families in Delhi NCR now live in apartments with no room for a full-time attendant, and many have children working abroad, so demand for senior living in Gurugram has grown fast. The city answers it with branded care homes run by hospital groups, small home-style residences in the older DLF sectors, specialist dementia care, transition care after a hospital stay and luxury retirement communities. If you are looking for an old age home in Gurgaon for a parent, you will find far more choice here than the old phrase suggests.
Elkin lists 21 verified senior living homes in Gurugram. Every home on this page has been checked for care staff, safety and honest pricing, and our team can arrange a guided visit to any of them. Elkin is also a primary member of the Association of Senior Living India (ASLI), the body that sets standards for senior living communities across the country.
Types of senior living homes in Gurugram
Most senior living homes in Gurugram are care-led rather than property-led, which is the reverse of cities such as Coimbatore or Pune. Here is how the choice breaks down.
Assisted living in Gurugram is the largest group. These homes suit a parent who needs help with bathing, dressing, medicines or walking, or who has come home from hospital and cannot yet manage alone. Several are run by healthcare companies, so a nurse on every shift, a visiting doctor and daily physiotherapy are normal rather than extras. Transition care, the step between hospital discharge and home, is a Gurugram speciality, with homes offering stroke, neuro and post-surgery rehabilitation.

Memory care in Gurugram is unusually well served. The city has dedicated dementia homes with secure floors and staff trained in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's care, and many assisted living homes also accept residents with early memory loss.

Independent living in Gurugram suits healthy, active seniors who want their own suite, good food and company without running a household. Options range from hospitality-led communities with chef-run kitchens to a large intergenerational project on the Dwarka Expressway where parents live in dedicated senior towers close to their children.

Old age homes and senior living homes in Gurugram: the difference
"Old age home in Gurgaon" is by far the most searched phrase for elder care in the city, but it covers two very different things. Traditional old age homes are run by trusts, NGOs or with Haryana government support. They offer shared rooms, simple vegetarian meals and basic supervision for little or no fee, and families in the city often ask about long-running homes in old Gurgaon such as the one in Sector 4. They do valuable work, but they rarely have nurses on site or the staff to look after a bedridden resident.
Senior living homes in Gurugram are private homes and communities. Residents get a private or twin-sharing room, planned meals, housekeeping, activities and, depending on the home, trained caregivers, nursing care, physiotherapy and a doctor on call. Some are luxury retirement residences; others are clinical care homes that work closely with hospitals. Elkin lists both kinds, so you can compare a low-cost old age home with a fully managed care home before you decide.
Best areas for senior living in Gurugram

On the Dwarka Expressway, Antara Estate 360 is an intergenerational project with dedicated senior towers that is still being built.
Across the city. Senior living and old age home costs in Gurugram
Gurugram is the most expensive part of Delhi NCR for elder care, usually 15 to 25 per cent above Noida and outer Delhi for a similar level of care. The ranges below are approximate and meant as a starting point. Fees change with the room, the care plan and the home, so always confirm the current fee, and what it covers, with the home itself.
- Free and low-cost old age homes in Gurgaon: free to about ₹12,000 a month at trust-run and government-supported homes, with shared rooms and simple meals. Places are limited.
- Independent senior living, paid monthly: about ₹40,000 to ₹1 lakh a month in hospitality-led communities, depending on the suite and the meal plan.
- Assisted living in Gurugram: about ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh a month. Smaller home-style houses in the DLF sectors and Sohna Road sit at the lower end, branded care homes near Golf Course Road at the upper end.
- Dementia care, transition care and bedridden care: about ₹70,000 to ₹2 lakh a month, since residents need trained staff and nursing round the clock.
- Buying into a senior living community: luxury intergenerational homes on the Dwarka Expressway cost about ₹4 crore to over ₹6 crore, plus monthly maintenance and care charges.
Expect to pay separately for medicines, consumables, a one-to-one attendant and specialist visits, and most homes take a refundable security deposit at admission. Our guide on how much assisted living costs in India explains what drives these numbers.
What you usually get in a senior living home in Gurugram
Most senior living homes in Gurugram include three meals and two snacks a day, housekeeping, laundry, 24-hour security, power backup and Wi-Fi. Kitchens usually cook north Indian vegetarian food, with diabetic, low-salt and soft diets as standard; several homes serve eggs or non-vegetarian food on request, so ask if it matters. Care-led homes add trained caregivers on every shift, medicine management, daily vitals, physiotherapy and an ambulance tie-up with a nearby hospital.
Weather shapes daily life more than families expect. Summers cross 45°C, and winters bring cold fog and some of the worst air quality in the country. Check that rooms are air-conditioned and heated, that the power backup runs the air-conditioning, and ask whether the home uses air purifiers in November and December. Staff in Gurugram usually speak Hindi and English, and many speak Punjabi or Haryanvi, which helps parents feel at home.
How to choose the right senior living home in Gurugram
No single home is the best old age home in Gurgaon for everyone. These checks help you narrow the list to the right one.
- Match the home to the care need. A parent recovering from a stroke needs a transition care centre with therapists; a parent with dementia needs a secure memory care floor; an active parent will be happier in independent living.
- Time the drive to hospital. Ask which hospital the home's ambulance goes to, Medanta, Fortis, Artemis, Max or Manipal, and how long the drive takes at 7 PM, when traffic on Golf Course Road and Sohna Road is at its worst.
- Ask about doctors and nurses at night. In a care home, a nurse on site at night matters more than a doctor on call.
- Check the air. Visit in winter if you can, and ask about purifiers and indoor activity when pollution is high.
- Look at room sharing honestly. Many Gurugram care homes quote twin-sharing rates; a private room can cost much more.
- Check the possession date on new projects. If you are buying into a senior residence that is still being built, ask for the Haryana RERA registration and the promised handover date.
- Read the deposit and exit terms. Our guide on whether an old age home deposit is refundable lists what to check before you sign.
