Chikkaballapur is not part of Bengaluru city. It is a district headquarters town about 60 km north of central Bengaluru on NH 44, at the foot of the hills that include Nandi Hills. Anandam Retirement Community, running since 2016, is a gated campus near Nandi Hills with independent and assisted living villas. Villas have private gardens or porches, grab rails, wide doors, emergency call bells, attached bathrooms and solar water heating. The campus has a clubhouse, community dining, a gym, a yoga hall, walking trails, a library, a temple, a medical room, a concierge desk and a shuttle bus. Daily health checks, medicine reminders, physiotherapy, diet counselling, help with personal care and care after a hospital stay are available as needs change.

Living near Nandi Hills
- Climate and scenery. The Nandi Hills area is a little cooler than the city and much greener, with hills, farmland and vineyards all around.
- Distance from the city. Central Bengaluru is a drive of an hour and a half or more, though the airport is closer, roughly halfway between the city and the town.
- Medical care. Chikkaballapur has a district hospital and private clinics for routine needs, and Akash Hospital near Devanahalli is on the way to the city. For specialist treatment, most residents travel to the large hospitals of north Bengaluru. Ask each community about its ambulance and its hospital tie-ups.
- Peace, with some isolation. Life here is quiet. That suits many retirees, but a parent who relies on friends, a temple or a club in the city may miss them.
