The hills are also the source of several rivers, including the Arkavathi. Around their base, in Chikkaballapur district, lies a landscape of vineyards, farms and small villages, with weather that is often a few degrees cooler than Bengaluru.

- Distance to plan for. Kempegowda International Airport is about half an hour to an hour away, and central Bengaluru usually takes an hour and a half or more by road. The community's shuttle bus helps with trips.
