Baner NX is the name builders gave to Mhalunge, the fast-growing stretch on the far side of the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway from Baner. It wraps around the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi and runs out towards Hinjawadi, so most of what you see here is new: tall residential towers, wide roads still being finished and a few older village lanes in between. Mhalunge is also part of the planned hi-tech city zone, which explains the pace of building.

This is a medically focused home rather than a lifestyle community. It suits:

Baner NX is still a neighbourhood under construction, and that cuts both ways.
- Hospitals. Jupiter Hospital and Manipal Hospital in Baner are a short drive back across the highway, and Aundh is not far beyond. Check the night-time route and the home's ambulance arrangements, since the highway junctions here can be slow.
- Roads and transport. The highway gives quick access to Wakad, Hinjawadi and Chandani Chowk, and Baner Road leads towards Aundh and the city. Pune Metro Line 3, from Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, is routed past the sports complex, which helps relatives who visit without a car.
- Daily life. Shops, restaurants and pharmacies are spreading through the new towers, and the open land around the sports complex makes for quiet morning walks. It is less settled than Baner, so expect some construction noise.
