Piedade is one of the villages of Divar, an island in the Mandovi river roughly 10 km upstream from Panjim, in Tiswadi taluka. There is no road bridge: the island is reached by river ferries that cross from Old Goa and Ribandar, with a third crossing on the northern side. - Hospitals across the river. Goa Medical College at Bambolim is the main hospital for Tiswadi, and Healthway Hospital on the Kadamba Plateau above Old Goa is a short drive from the Old Goa ferry point. Private hospitals in Panjim are also within reach once across.
- Ferries, not roads. Ferry crossings link Divar with Old Goa and Ribandar through the day. They are a pleasant part of life for residents, but visiting family should plan around the timings and the monsoon.
- Heritage next door. The Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral in Old Goa are a short crossing away, which many Catholic residents value.
- Quiet above all. There are few shops, no bustle and very little traffic. That suits a parent who wants rest; a parent who enjoys town life may prefer the mainland.
