The Sreerampur on this page is a small settlement at Dakshin Gobindapur, in the Sonarpur area of South 24 Parganas, a few kilometres south of Garia. It is not Serampore, the old Danish town across the river in Hooghly district, and it lies outside the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, although it is part of the city's southern suburbs and carries a Kolkata postal code. The surroundings are semi-rural, with ponds and open land between new houses, as the city spreads south from Garia and Narendrapur.

Peace Senior Living was founded by Dr Dipankar Datta, an NRI doctor with a long career in the pharmaceutical industry, and has grown into one of the larger senior campuses on Kolkata's southern fringe. What to know about the location
Hospitals. The nearest large government hospital is the Baruipur Subdivisional Hospital, and there is a rural hospital at Sonarpur. For private multi-speciality care, residents travel north towards Garia and the hospitals on the EM Bypass, such as Peerless at Panchasayar. Ask how the campus handles a night-time emergency and how long the drive takes.
Getting there. Sonarpur station on the Sealdah South suburban line is the nearest railhead, and the metro stations at Garia and New Garia are the usual meeting point for visitors from the city.
Quiet surroundings. In exchange for the distance, a resident gets open air, birdsong and a much slower pace than in the city, which suits many retired couples.
