Vandalur sits on GST Road at the southern gateway of Chennai, best known for the Arignar Anna Zoological Park and the reserve forest around it. It is where the Outer Ring Road begins and where the Vandalur to Kelambakkam road branches east towards OMR. The new Kilambakkam bus terminus, which handles most long-distance buses leaving Chennai for the south, is just down GST Road, and Vandalur has its own station on the suburban railway line.
These links, plus green surroundings and lower land prices, have made senior living in Vandalur one of the more active retirement markets in Chennai. Elkin lists two independent living communities here, both aimed at retirees who want to buy a home.
Retirement communities in Vandalur
Serene Adinath is a retirement community run by Serene, part of Columbia Pacific Communities. Public details describe a large campus of about 8 acres with more than 200 flats in 1, 2 and 3 BHK sizes, across low-rise blocks. Its listed services are strong for an independent community:
- A nurse and doctor on call 24/7, daily health checks and an ambulance.
- Emergency response and physiotherapy.
- Housekeeping, laundry and maintenance.
Homes are furnished, with Wi-Fi, power backup and gardens. Serene Adinath suits active seniors and couples who want a sizeable, sociable community with medical help on call. Its postal address is given as Mannivakkam, the neighbouring village, so do not be surprised by the name when you look it up.
Elements Madhuram is a smaller senior living community in Vandalur. Public project details link it to GT Bharathi Urban Developers, and it offers 1, 1.5 and 2 BHK homes. Its listing covers daily health monitoring, emergency response, medical care and domestic help, with a garden and power backup. It suits a retiree who wants a compact, easy-to-run flat at a lower price than a large campus. Ask about the construction status, who operates the senior services, and what the maintenance fee includes.
Visiting both on the same day is easy and shows the difference between a big, established community and a newer, smaller one.
