Bhugaon is where Pune starts to give way to the Mulshi countryside. Drive west along Paud Road past Chandani Chowk and Bhusari Colony, and within a few kilometres the buildings thin out, the hills close in and the air smells of trees rather than traffic. The village falls in Mulshi taluka, but it is close enough to Kothrud that families can still visit on a weekday evening.
That combination of open space and a reasonable drive to the city is what draws people to senior living in Bhugaon. Elkin lists one verified community here, Athashri Valley, which sits inside a large township with a natural forest at its heart. Our team can arrange a guided visit and help you weigh it against homes closer in, in Bavdhan and Kothrud.
Athashri Valley at Forest Trails
Athashri Valley is part of Forest Trails, an integrated township by Paranjape Schemes. The developer describes the township as about 90 percent open space, with landscaped areas, water bodies and a forest of more than 10,000 trees. Athashri Valley is the senior living section, built in phases that share a clubhouse, and it overlooks a green valley.
From its listing:
- Compact homes to own. Apartments of about 370 sq ft, designed for wheelchair access, which keeps the cost of ownership lower than in Baner or Pashan.
- Leisure on site. A swimming pool and gardens, and pets are allowed.
- Health support. Daily health monitoring, physiotherapy and help after a hospital stay, with trained caregivers and memory care support when needed.
- Palliative care through Aastha. Aastha is the assisted living and palliative care service linked to Athashri, with centres in Pashan and Bavdhan.
- Everyday services. Nutritional support, Wi-Fi, power backup and a social programme for residents.
Residents also get the wider township's walking trails and open spaces, which makes Athashri Valley a good fit for a healthy, active senior or couple who want nature on the doorstep. See more independent living in Pune.
Living out on Paud Road: what to weigh up
- Space and quiet. The township's trails and the surrounding hills are the main attraction. Residents who enjoy gardening, birdwatching or long walks tend to settle in well.
- Distance to hospitals. Chellaram Hospital in Bavdhan and Sahyadri Hospital in Kothrud are the nearest large hospitals towards the city, and Symbiosis University Hospital at Lavale is also within reach. Ask how quickly the community's ambulance can reach each one, especially at night.
- Getting to the city. Paud Road leads straight to Chandani Chowk and Kothrud, and the Aqua metro line starts at Vanaz, so relatives can combine a metro ride with a short drive.
- Shops and errands. Day-to-day needs are covered within the township and along Paud Road, while bigger shopping trips usually mean a drive to Kothrud or Bavdhan.
Bhugaon senior living costs
Bhugaon is one of the more affordable places in the Pune area to own a senior home. As a rough guide, compact senior living apartments on the edges of Pune, including Bhugaon, cost about ₹30 lakh to ₹60 lakh, plus monthly maintenance and dining charges. If your parent needs a monthly care arrangement instead, assisted living in the nearby west Pune belt costs about ₹35,000 to ₹60,000 a month, and nursing-heavy care for dementia or bedridden residents about ₹40,000 to ₹80,000. Basic paid old age homes in Pune cost about ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 a month. Confirm current prices and service charges with the community. Old age homes near Bhugaon and closer options
Elkin lists no traditional old age home in Bhugaon itself, so families searching for an old age home in Bhugaon or near it usually look back towards the city:
- Senior living on Paud Road, the same road nearer Kothrud, with a geriatric and palliative care home.
- Senior living in Bavdhan, about fifteen minutes away, with a nursing-led home and Athashri Pebbles.
- Senior living in Lavale, across the hills near Pirangut and the Symbiosis campus, with a hotel-style senior residence.
